Dan Smith’s Bio

Dan Smith, a neurodiversity advocate and trade union health and safety rep coordinator at Babcock International, has dedicated his career to promoting neurodivergent inclusion in the workplace. Diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, and Tourette's syndrome, Dan draws from his personal experiences to champion awareness and support for neurodiverse individuals. He has played a pivotal role in reshaping Babcock's approach to hiring and onboarding by introducing reasonable adjustments such as prompt cards and tailored interview materials. His leadership in the Neurodiverse Inclusion Programme has earned him recognition, including awards for his contributions to neurodiversity and inclusion.

Before his current role, Dan served as a dog handler in commando and special forces units, an experience that helped shape his resilience and leadership abilities. His passion for neurodiversity led him to co-found a neurodiverse network that has received several accolades, such as "Most Inclusive Project" at the 2022 National Celebrating Neurodiversity Awards. Through his work with the 'Creating Futures' outreach project, Dan educates young people about neurodiversity in the workplace, ensuring that future generations understand the value of an inclusive and accessible work environment for all.
