Caragh McMurtry
Current or Previous Roles: Co-Founder and CEO of Neurodiverse Sport, Team GB and Olympic Rower.
Keynote: With a late diagnosis of Autism, suspected ADHD, and a previous misdiagnosis of bipolar disorder, Caragh speaks passionately about the danger of relying too heavily on labels and a one-size-fits-all approach in sport. In particular, she is determined to challenge common misconceptions relating to neurodiversity, neurodivergence in women and girls, neurodivergent capabilities and mental health.
Caragh McMurtry’s Bio
Caragh McMurtry is passionate about the transformative power of sports in empowering neurodivergent individuals to learn, grow, and self-regulate. Her journey began in community sports, where she discovered her talent early, leading to success at the Junior and U23 levels and eventual selection for national team training. However, her struggles with fitting societal moulds led to burnout, misdiagnosis, and inappropriate treatment.
A late autism diagnosis enabled Caragh to understand her brain, advocate for herself, and regain control of her journey. Now, she is dedicated to ensuring future neurodivergent athletes can fulfil their potential and experience the benefits of sport at every level without facing the same obstacles.
